I have just migrated the stats from a server back into the same server (my mistake) . thought it would be ok , but all stats have gone . I cant understand why the option is there to put the same stats into the same server if these stats would be lost
I have done this many times before and worked every time , without a hitch . 20k players stats gone

Hope that GT has some sort of cache on servers for this very thing , fingers crossed

Sorry, server stats that are deleted simply no longer exist.
There are no means of recovery for deleted server/player statistics.

Yeah I kinda thought that , wee suggestion , I would remove the option to transfer the data to the same server , it doesn't make sense and if someone else does what I done theirs will be lost also , my own bloody fault , too much of a hurry , done it loads of times before , a rookie mistake

Many people also accidentally perform the operation in reverse (transferring new server (nil history) to the old server) achieving precisely the same end result.

Your case is probably more easily catered for in terms of additional logic. The more usual case would, I think, prove more difficult to prevent.
