Shortest Straw, =SS= Tactical, is a gaming clan based on the principles of “tactical” game-play or as it is also referred to, “tactical realism”. This means we prefer to play most games in a manner which is as consistent as possible with how a real soldier could or would behave in real life while remembering it is only a game and its sole purpose is to provide entertainment and fellowship with other players.

Shortest Straw really has no specific meaning. We simply did not want a name tied to a specific country, branch of military, or game. After throwing out dozens of names this one just stuck.

Shortest Straw is very deeply rooted in the tactical community. We say this because =SS= Tactical was formed by longstanding members of three well known clans in the tactical community that date back as far as Medal of Honor Allied Assault. These clans are well respected by =SS= Tactical, should always be placed in high regard, and their members are considered to be friends.

Shortest Straw was formed to serve really one purpose and that is to enjoy a little fun with the company of others who are looking for the same. Rather than being tied to a specific game we play whatever might bring us a little entertainment on any given night. We do not have rigid clan membership rules or require that members attend routine meetings or events . In order to keep the clan democratic with every member holding equal weight, we don’t assign rank. The only exception to the democracy is in the areas of recruitment and clan development.

Shortest Straw founders envisioned a clan with certain ideals as described here and consequently must have only members who want that same thing from their clan. For that reason the founders must have a final veto in the recruitment and clan development process to ensure that the personalities and game-play styles are in line with that of other members and the original vision for the clan.

Shortest Straw members are the type of players who don't play run-n-gun style and don't engage in cowardly actions such as intentional Team Killing or hacking, cheating or exploiting.
