His attempts to photograph the elusive swamp skimmer fruitfly were constantly thwarted by the presence of this damn bird that wouldn't get out of the way.
And although he failed to get his National Geographic award winning macro shot, the painful cramp, severe dehydration and leeches in places no leeches should be, were later rewarded by the delicious flavour of a lightly seasoned bird roasted on an open fire.
