Dear Steamfriends members, It’s time to talk in a little more detail about the upcoming merger between Steamfriends and Gameconnect, and how it’s going to affect the great community we have created together over the years. Steamfriends is a tremendous success. With an active, lively community, unique coverage of existing and upcoming games, and Valve’s attention on the matters most dear to us, we have fast become one of the most relevant Steam-related sites. On the other hand, Gameconnnect is coming back from its ashes, “when it’s done”. Powered by the same bleeding-edge technology that runs the new Techconnect Magazine website (link), Gameconnect is going to feature game, news, feature, game character and download connectivity on an unprecedented level, making for the most interactive user flow on any gaming magazine online right now – and we’re not making that boast lightly. We saw an opportunity – the chance to bring Steamfriends to the next level, to the level of news syndication, powerful commercial support for its users, servers and websites, and game publisher recognition. As we merge Steamfriends into the new Gameconnect, we’ll be able to take advantage of a powerful new set of servers, experts and technologies, while at the same time maintaining the community edge that brought and kept us together. A lot is going to change, and it’s all going to be for the better. The forums, news, features, reviews and servers that made Steamfriends what it is today are going to remain untouched, but we’re going to gain a bigger audience for our content and posts, more and better facilities, and the chance to grow into something truly spectacular that the internet has yet to see: an enduring, cohesive community that knows its stuff.
